The tech company has long been working on securing account switching to a new device, with an opt-in screen that notifies you of your intention to log in on another device and that the user must accept or decline.
This screen tries to offer an extra layer of security in case the user has shared the six-digit code that the app requires to make that change on a verification screen.
Now the company is preparing a change to this verification screen, whereby the six-digit code will be displayed directly within the WhatsApp app, as collected from the WABEtainfo portal.
Among the options offered by this test screen are sending the code in an SMS message, making a call and, as a novelty, resend the code. Selecting the latter option will open a screen with the code on the primary mobile phone, which the user will have to enter on the new phone.
This is currently a test feature, available in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.1.11.
