Portal RTX Free DLC with Ray Tracing and DLSS Coming in December – Gaming – News

Portal with RTX will be released in December. Nvidia announces this in a blog post. The free DLC adds, among other things, ray tracing to the puzzle game from Valve, which was first released in 2007. The update was originally planned for November.

Portal with RTX DLC will be released on December 8 via Steam, reported Nvidia. The dlc is from then on free to download for everyone who owns Portal on the gaming platform. The RTX version will include path tracking support for realistic lighting and reflections, in addition to the update textures in Models with higher resolution. Nvidia previously introduced a similar RTX version of Quake II.

Nvidia has announced the arrival of Portal with RTX already in September, along with the introduction of the first GeForce RTX 40 video cards. The game was built using RTX Remix, a mod platform that can be used to add features like ray tracing to classic games. The DLC was originally supposed to be released in November, but it was pushed back a month to December.

It also gets portal, as well as ray tracing support for DLSS 3 and its associated DLSS frame generation function. However, the RTX version of Portal will also work on other DXR or Vulkan RT supported video cards, such as AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series and Intel’s Arc GPUs. However, those video cards cannot use DLSS for better frame rates. Nvidia recommends an RTX 3060 with DLSS 2 to play Portal with RTX at 1080p resolution at 30fps. An RTX 3080 is recommended for 60fps.
