The future careers of Latvian bobsleigh pilots Oskars Melbārzs and Ralfs Bērziņš are under great questioning, according to the team’s head coach Sands Prūs, who told the portal “klik.tvnet.lv”.
Olympic champion Melbārdis has struggled with injuries in recent years and is still treating injuries. “It simply came to our notice then. Maybe not only the season should be skipped, but it should end altogether [karjera], ”The portal quotes Prussis, noting that the coach has the final say on this issue.
Like the experienced Melbārdis, the young pilot Bērziņš, who was still with the team at the beginning of the summer, does not participate in the training. Already in May, Prussia indicated in a conversation with the portal “klik.tvnet.lv” that both pilots should consider continuing their bobsled career. “We had talks. That is the situation now – he is not with us at the moment, ”says Prūsis, without commenting on the situation.
Latvia’s first number in recent years is Oskars Ķibermanis, but behind Bērziņš and Melbārzs Emīls Cipulis and Dāvis Kaufmanis are trying to prove themselves in bobsleigh.
The season will start in October, when bobsleigh and skeleton training is planned for the 6th to 27th of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games in Yanchin. The Beijing Olympics will take place in February, but the athletes will score points in the World Cup qualifiers.
