Lübeck. The Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG) has received a financial injection from the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVI) for its “Baltic Future Port” project, as it announced at the beginning of this week. Federal funds in the amount of 512,000 euros will therefore be available for several digital projects as part of the “Baltic Future Port” over the next three years. They come from the 5G innovation competition of the BMVI, in which the LHG took part with other Lübeck partners. The overall project has a volume of 3.6 million euros.
As part of the “Baltic Future Port” at Skandinavienkai, the LHG would like to use 5G technology to accelerate the handling processes and make them safer, for which it has set up several sub-projects. Among other things, a “railway scanning system” is supposed to feed rail and transshipment data faster and more reliably into the various data systems of those involved in the rail process. When loading and unloading the ships, the quality of the mobile data acquisition should be optimized.
Use of artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence should also help with the storage and retrieval of forest products. To this end, according to the LHG, an “active digital twin” of the forest product hall is being created, with which, for example, free capacities can be recorded more quickly. Fire protection and emergency management should also benefit from this technology. In a further sub-project, the LHG is working on using multicopters and autonomous or controlled underwater vehicles in the event of danger. This is an implementation of the results from the earlier research project “Ihatec SecurePort”.
The city of Lübeck is the consortium leader for “Baltic Future Port”. In addition to LHG, other partners include the Lübeck University of Technology, Travekom, the Lübeck Port Authority (LPA), the LHG subsidiary Baltic Rail Gate (BRG) and the shipping company TT-Line. (sn)
