Exports of rapeseed and soybean oils up sharply
Solid agricultural raw materials have increased by 1% to 677,825 tonnes, due to the increase in imports of sunflower and soybean meal. Those linked to imports of vegetable oils, intended for animal feed, remained stable at 9,602 tonnes. Rapeseed and soybean oil exports increased by 22% to more than 116,000 tons.
Still impacted by the very high level of freight rates, lnon-food solid bulk stood at 608,192 tons, with a slight decline of 2% pcompared to 2021, mainly linked to the drop in cement traffic. This is not fully offset by the export of CSR, an alternative fuel prepared from non-hazardous waste and intended for energy recovery in cogeneration plants.
Port officials also observed a stability of fuel and propane inputs with nearly 890,000 tons.
Container traffic increases by 5%
The polder works and the time lag between the end of Navantia’s activities and the start of those of Haizea Breizh held back miscellaneous goods, which fell by 13% to 253,851 tons. However, with the progression of the activity of Haizea Breizh and the forty stopovers expected by the end of the year traffic should pick up again in 2023. 21 cruise ship stopovers
Finally, the port of Brest welcomed 21 cruise ship stopovers and 21,000 passengers in 2022. In view of the challenges of the sector, the SPBB, the CCIMBO, the Tourist Office and Brest Métropole have decided to combine their forces to promote the “Brest” destination.
Strong momentum in ship repair activity
With 51 ships received in 2022, the ship repair concession is back to a very good level of activity. 35 ships were received in the form of refit, compared to 25 in 2021. The number of hours of cranes sold is up sharply: more than 50%. 7 ships were also dismantled in the form of refit n°1, one of the three approved French port sites.
