Modern electric cars are technically significantly different cars – and it only starts with the drive. The integrated software connects the entire car, so with a simple update, in addition to the on-board infotainment, the charging speed or range can also be affected.

Regardless of age, version and body style, all Taycans can be brought up to the 2023 model year software level with a comprehensive software update that adds efficiency, range and functionality improvements.
–
At the same time, it is not a small matter. Customers will get an increase in powertrain efficiency, which will lead to an increase in range of approximately 50 kilometers according to the WLTP protocol.
–
The update increases efficiency by almost completely disconnecting and deactivating the front electric motor on all-wheel drive models in Normal and Range driving modes. When coasting and stationary, both axles have no driving torque.

Other changes include an optimized energy recovery strategy and a new energy flow indicator on the central display.

The update also improves the thermal management of the battery, especially in low outdoor temperatures. This allows the taycan to be fast-charged more often overall and across a wider range of battery charge levels, with more range and shorter charging times. A 22kW on-board charger is now also available for retrofitting.
–
The on-board system has new features and a colorful tile design on the splash screen. The vehicles will also get optimized voice control, Spotify app integration and wireless Android Auto.
–
Assistance systems are also improved, such as the sensors of the ParkAssist function, which now work with a greater range. In addition, drivers are now offered smaller parking spaces.
–
It is also possible to have individual functions and equipment unlocked after purchase, such as the keyless entry function for the doors and the trunk.
–
The update is free for customers, but can only be done by visiting a Porsche workshop.
