Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo Sets Guinness World Record for Highest Elevation Change

Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo entered the Guinness Book of Records by reaching a height of 5355 meters above sea level. The maximum elevation change during the 10-day route was 5,573 meters.

Porsche’s experiment with two electric drive Taycan 4 Cross Turismos began at Aiding Lake, China’s lowest natural geographical point at 218 meters below sea level. From there, the German electric cars went towards the Tibetan mountains along one of the most picturesque Chinese highways, winding several kilometers high.

The main challenge on the Xinjiang-Tibet route was car charging, as there were few DC and AC charging stations along the way, but their capacity varied from 120 to 22 kilowatts, which extended the charging time.

True, the uneven terrain helped with energy recovery through recuperation, but the two-speed gearbox ensured optimal energy consumption.

The 2,783-kilometer journey ended with the successful reaching of the Khuntu-Daban peak at 5,355.134 meters above sea level and a new record in the Guinness Book of Records for the maximum elevation change of 5,573.979 meters in one route.

According to the manufacturer, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo can travel up to 488 km on a single charge, and the car can travel almost 600 km in the city.
