Porsche has an electric Taycan model in its offer, and the second generation of the Macan crossover will also run on electricity. In addition, however, another electric car is to be added to the offer in the coming years, in the form of a large SUV.

According to the automaker’s CEO Oliver Blume, from whom the report comes, such a car could be even bigger than the Cayenne SUV: “It will further expand our position in the luxury car segment. We are targeting categories where there are higher margins, and we want to gain new sales opportunities in this way,” he is quoted as saying by the Motor1 website, which reports on the news.

It’s not clear how far along the development is, but Blume’s statement may be related to a report last year by Automotive News, which drew on information from the brand’s dealers. They then got the opportunity to look at the new SUV, which was supposed to be “part sedan, part crossover” and not share design elements with the Macan or the Cayenne.

According to Automobilwoche website reports from the beginning of this year, some new SUV was originally supposed to have the Artemis project as its technical basis, but Porsche was to change its mind and build the car on the PPE platform. This is developed in cooperation with Audi. The next-generation Macan and the Audi Q6 e-tron, due in 2023, are set to be the first cars to use it.
