Comparing the results of the first quarter of this year with the same period last year, there is a slight decrease – 5% fewer cars were delivered. According to Detlev von Platen, Porsche AG ‘s sales and marketing director, sales teams and dealers have performed well in the first quarter, given the exceptional circumstances affecting the entire car industry.

“Challenges are posed by new outbreaks of coronavirus in some regions of China, as well as relentless supply chain and logistics challenges, but at the same time, our products are still in high demand worldwide – in Europe, America and China,” said Detlev von Platen.

The challenges posed by the coronavirus have affected sports car manufacturers in different parts of the world, leading to a different picture of the number of cars delivered.

In Europe, Porsche delivered 22,791 cars in the first quarter. The figure was also high in the first three months of 2021, but this year it has managed to exceed it by 18%. Growth has also been observed in Germany, where the number of cars delivered has increased by 16% to 6,925 units.

Porsche, the largest sports car manufacturer in China, delivered 17,685 cars, 20% less than last year. The fall was caused by new outbreaks of the coronavirus, which forced the closure of Porsche centers in some parts of the country. A total of 28,991 vehicles were delivered to customers in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and the Middle East.

Despite supply and transit difficulties affecting several car brands, 16,664 Porsche cars were delivered to customers in the United States and 13,042 in the United States.

The biggest demand was once again for Porsche SUVs, with 19,029 customers receiving Porsche Cayenne, and Macan delivering 18,329 units.

The all-electric Porsche Taycan has reached 9,470 customers, the sports car icon “911” has reached 9,327. In total, customers have also received 7,735 Panamera cars and 4,536 “718 Boxster” and “718 Cayman” cars.

According to Detlev von Platen, Porsche remained cautious from the start of the second quarter, especially with regard to the armed conflict in Ukraine, which the company is perceived with concern and concern.

“Our experts constantly monitor and evaluate the impact on the company’s operations. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic about the overall forecast and will not compromise, creating an emotional and unique experience for our customers,” sums up Detlev von Platen.
