Despite the challenges, Porsche managed to deliver strong car deliveries in the first six months of 2022. The German automaker delivered 145,860 cars to customers around the world, 5% less than in the same period last year. , the company said.

“We and our dealers have successfully made it through the first half of the year, which was affected by a number of external factors and uncertainties,” says Detlev von Platen, board member responsible for sales and marketing at Porsche AG.

He says that in addition to the additional challenges created by the escalation of the pandemic in China and other markets, the company has also been affected by continuing problems with supply networks and logistics. At the same time, the demand and popularity of the “Porsche” brand remained strong.

“We expect the second half of the year to be dynamic. As in previous years, we are optimistic for the future and determined to go full steam ahead in the remaining months of the year,” says von Platen.

Growth in Germany and Europe

The world market situation was different in the first half of the year, so delivery figures differ in different regions and markets. The number of cars delivered in Europe rose to 43,087, 7% more than last year. It is important to remember that the indicators were also high in this period a year ago.

The same goes for the brand’s domestic market, Germany. In the first six months of this year, 13,785 cars were delivered, 5% more than a year ago.

On the other hand, in China, despite several months of restrictions in various cities, Porsche was able to deliver 40,681 cars to customers. The drop in cars delivered in the first six months of the year was 16%. Despite the decline in China’s luxury car segment (-23% in January-June), the sports car maker still managed to show impressive results there too.

In the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East region, Porsche delivered a total of 62,245 cars to customers, 10% less than a year ago.

Despite the complications of delivery and transportation, Porsche delivered 32,529 cars to US customers in the first half of this year, down 10% from last year’s best half-yearly figure.

The Cayenne remains the most popular Porsche model

Because there has remained particularly strong demand for SUV models. In total, the “Cayenne” model cars were delivered to 41,947 customers. Macan is in second place with 38,039 units delivered.

The sports car icon ‘911’ has been delivered to 21,616 customers worldwide. The “Taycan” was instead delivered to 18,877 customers, despite production constraints caused by problems in the supply network.

The “Panamera” was delivered to 15,604 customers, while the “718 Boxster” and “718 Cayman” cars were received by 9,777 customers.
