Porsche 911 Targa: How a barn find turned into a gem again

“The Targa stood in a goalless garage in the USA for almost 40 years, covered by a plastic tarpaulin. The former owner had simply forgotten the car, ”says Uwe Makrutzki, Head of Porsche Classic Factory Restoration at Porsche AG. The condition of the rare sports car was correspondingly desolate. After serving as a demonstration car for a Porsche dealer, it was sold to the USA in 1969. From 1977 to the end of 2016, the open 911 was parked in the garage in Long Beach (New York State).

But it was complete – especially pleasing given the many optional extras such as Webasto parking heater, tinted windscreen, Blaupunkt radio Cologne, leather seats, halogen fog lamps and outside thermometers.
