The Ninth US Court of Appeals ordered pornographic actress, Stormy Daniels, to pay legal fees to Trump’s lawyer, hours after the former president appeared in a Manhattan court, according to CNN.
The court sided with efforts to recover Trump’s additional legal fees due to Defamation lawsuit filed by Stormy Daniels against Trump And she lost it, by about $122,000, in addition to more than $500,000 in payments previously ordered by the court to be made to Trump’s attorneys.
CNN indicated that the defamation case is unrelated to the civil lawsuit with Trump’s arrest and charges in New York, but both involve Daniels, who received $130,000 to silence her during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and conceal an affair, which the president denied. the previous.
The court said the fees Trump requested were “reasonable,” after Daniels’ legal team argued the fees were “unreasonable,” according to court documents.
Daniels was ordered to pay Trump’s legal fees when the case was dismissed. She then appealed her case to the Supreme Court, which last year refused to hear the case and Daniels previously said she would go to jail before paying any money to the former president.
“I’ll go to jail before I pay a penny,” she said, after a federal appeals court last year upheld a decision that ordered her to pay $300,000 in attorneys’ fees to Trump.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., tweeted in celebration of the news, claiming the payment was “on top of the nearly $500,000 you already owe him.”
Trump pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 34 criminal charges, including falsifying business records in connection with payments made to Daniels before the 2016 presidential election to prevent her from discussing an alleged relationship with Trump.
