Pork Padang Rice Makes A Shot, Business Owners Open Up

Business owner Padang pork rice, Sergio, admitted that he was surprised that his culinary business went viral. According to him, the business has not operated for a long time.

“I was also surprised (the effort went viral),” said Sergio at the RW 11 Office of Kelapa Gading Timur Village, North Jakarta, Friday (10/6/2022).

Sergio said the business started during the Corona pandemic or early 2020. He said the business only lasted about 3 months.

“Before COVID-19, not yet. Actually, it’s the end of 2019, early 2020. So it’s been around 3 months there. Not yet lockdown I guess,” he said.

Sergio was taken to Kelapa Gading Police for questioning by the police. Sergio has also been summoned by the urban village, sub-district, and the DKI Jakarta Industry and Trade Office to discuss the culinary business.

Previously, culinary businesses that sold menus Padang pork rice make a fuss. According to the daily chairman of the Minang Family Association (IKM) DPP, Andre Rosiade, the culinary business is called Babiambo.

“As the Daily Chairperson of the Minang Family Association DPP, I have heard about restaurants in Jakarta that make Minang people uneasy. This is because the restaurant called Babiambo processes pork into dishes in the form of rendang,” said Andre Rosiade in his statement, Friday (10/6) .

The existence of Padang pork rice was also highlighted by a member of the DPR from the West Sumatra II electoral district, Guspardi Gaus. He admitted that he was furious about the existence of the pork Padang rice.

“What is the purpose and motive of the restaurant owner to provide non-halal food using the typical Minangkabau menu name?” said this PAN politician.
