Brazilian scientists have analyzed existing research on curcumin, which is contained in the roots of turmeric and is sold in stores as a spice. They came to the conclusion that curcumin, among other useful properties, is able to fight the coronavirus, writes zdrave.to.
This substance is widely known as an antioxidant, ie, slows down the aging process. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect and mitigates the harmful effects of the environment.
According to the article by Brazilian scientists, the research was conducted only in vitro, ie, on cell cultures and not on living organisms. It turned out that curcumin really suppresses the coronavirus even better than hydroxychloroquine – the drug that was used to treat coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic.
Experts point out that everything looks fine, but … in theory. And let’s not be fooled, but to understand that the suppression of the SARS-CoV-2 virus with curcumin is observed only in a test tube and not inside a living organism. And they explain that very often it happens that some preparations work effectively in a test tube, but are ineffective in living organisms and useless for the treatment of really sick people.
Extremely promising achievement, but so far only a good theory, as there is no clinical evidence that curcumin preparations work in exactly the same way.
In conclusion, in response to the question, experts note the following: ordinary curcumin, the one in supplements, will not help you with coronavirus in any way, even if you drink a liter of it. He cannot reach the goal. So do not throw yourself at all products containing curcumin in order to fight this insidious virus, which has plagued humanity for more than a year.
