The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has decided to renew 75% of the candidates who will lead the candidacies for the Congress of Deputies and include a large part of its Steering Committee in starting positions.
The PP Electoral Committee met this Monday to approve the list of candidates that will lead the candidacies of the formation with which it will run in the next general elections on July 23.
In this candidacy, 39 of the 52 heads of the list are renewed, that is, 75%. The president of the party will head the list for Madrid; the general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, from La Rioja; and the general coordinator, Elías Bendodo, will lead the one in Malaga.
In addition, the vice-secretary of the Economy, Juan Bravo, will lead Servilla’s list; while the Vice-Secretary for Studies, Carmen Navarro, will do the same with that of Albacete. The Vice Secretary for Social Policies, Carmen Fúnez, will lead Ciudad Real’s candidacy.
In his case, the Institutional Vice-Secretary, Esteban González Pons, will head the list of Valencia; while the vice-secretary for Organization, Miguel Tellado, will lead the candidacy for the Lower House for A Coruña.
The criteria used by the Electoral Committee, chaired by Diego Calvo, to select the heads of the list has been “to include people who have a long political and legislative career, as well as proven experience in public and private management, with profiles that in addition to having this background, they have formed part of the party structures and have done a magnificent job during this legislature”, highlighted the PP.
Feijóo, already communicated last Friday to the former spokesperson for the Popular Group, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, and to the Vice-Secretary for Culture and Open Society, Borja Sémper, his willingness to have them also accompany him, in their cases on the Madrid list to Congress.
