On May 28, millions of residents in Spain went to the polls to cast their votes to elect the next presidents -in the twelve communities where the elections take place. regional elections– and to the next mayors in the municipal elections that have taken place throughout the national territory.

For now, if there is a clear winner in these elections, it has been the Popular Party. Not only has it achieved an absolute majority in 459 municipalities -compared to the 429 of the PSOE- but, in addition, it has wrested some fiefs from the socialists such as Aragon, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Seville or Granada, La Rioja, Cantabria, among others.

The reaction of the PSOE remains to be seen, especially in a national key, taking into account the general elections that will be held in the coming months.

Battle of Podemos and Citizens

The other big losers of the night are dyed purple and orange. And it is that both Unidas Podemos and Ciudadanos have lost representation in some important cities, such as Madrid or Valencia.

More bloody is the case of Ciudadanos that at 00:00 on May 29 does not even reach 300,000 votes in all of Spain.
