CA Rauf, former secretary of state of the banned organization Popular Front of India, was arrested by the NIA. A Kochi NIA team surrounded Rauf’s home in Pattambi Karimpulli on Friday morning and arrested him. He had fled to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu since the organization was banned. The NIA team led by Inspector K Harish arrived following a tip that he was home. Also present were the carabinieri of Pattambi. Rauf was produced in the Kochi NIA courthouse and indicted.
It turned out that Rauf helped many leaders to go into hiding after the ban. A week ago the NIA team broke into the house and recovered some flyers. Rauf is the 41st accused in the murder case of former RSS activist Shikshan Pramukh Srinivasan in Palakkad Melamuri.
