Popular Front: Confiscation almost complete – PFI Hartal

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ The process of confiscating the property of the leaders to recover the losses following the destruction of property in the lightning hartal of the Popular Front is almost complete. The report is to be submitted to the High Court tomorrow.

Former All India Chairman OMA Salam of Popular Front confiscated 14 cents and house at Mancheri Narukara in Malappuram and land of National Education Trust in Malappuram Vazhakatte headed by former state president Naseruddin Elamaram. 10 cent land of former state secretary CA Rauf at Pattambi Maruthur, Palakkad has been confiscated. Another ex-state secretary Abdul Sattar’s 18-cent plot and house at Kulasekharapuram, Kollam are being confiscated. Abdul Sattar’s parents, wife and children moved from here.

A 3-storey building in which the bank and KSFE are operating in Pasayannur, Thrissur, has been confiscated. A person’s car was confiscated in Kannur.

In Malappuram district, the process has not been completed. Out of 126 properties, 89 were confiscated. It is reported that in Wayanad, one person’s property could not be confiscated as it was a jointly owned property and 2 persons have no property in their own name. The proceedings in Thiruvananthapuram district were completed on Friday itself. In five cases, the land was confiscated.

The number of leaders and activists facing confiscation in various districts is as follows: Pathanamthitta (2), Alappuzha (5), Kottayam (4), Idukki (6), Ernakulam (6), Thrissur (18), Palakkad (17), Kozhikode (11), Wayanad (11), Kannur (8), Kasaragod (5). The High Court took the case on its own initiative for causing a loss of Rs 5.20 crore in the lightning hartal conducted on September 23.
