If you are an Iphone owner, Spotify user and have not yet updated to the latest Ios versions, it may be a good idea to wait a bit. Several media outlets report that the popular music service is causing a strange problem on Apple’s mobiles.
As among others Apple Insider and 9to5mac reported recently, many users experience that the iPhone battery is drained of power at a very high pace, and it is by all accounts the Spotify app that is to blame.
Newer iOS versions
The problem is experienced mainly by people who are on iOS 14.8 and iOS 15, and is described in, among other things Reddit, Twitter and Spotify’s own forum. Some users claim that the battery drains in just one hour if the Spotify app is in use on the phone.
In a status update Spotify has confirmed the problem, and the service says they are working to find a solution. The service has suggested one full reinstallering of the app as a temporary fix, but several users have already commented that this measure does not work.
For now, the service recommends keeping the app up to date so that fixes are in place as soon as possible.
Also experiences heating
In addition to the massive power consumption, many users state that the iPhone mobile also overheats while the Spotify app is in use. None of the problems have a known cause yet, but apparently it is not an Apple problem.
Several users claim that Apple’s own Spotify competitor, Apple Music, does not have this effect on the battery.
