Clothes, shoes and other equipment are expensive, at least if you choose recognized brands. With growing children, you may have to renew equipment, even if you bought new last year.

Another thing that costs is school bags. Among young people, there is one brand in particular that “everyone” wants to have during the day, specifically bags from Db, formerly called Douchebags. It writes My Lørenskog.
The most popular model, Hugger, costs around NOK 2,000, but the price is obviously not a deterrent.
– In recent years, we have sold out of these bags every August. It’s total chaos. Everyone comes in and asks for them, and often we have to disappoint them that it is empty, general manager Mathias Fekete at Anton Sport Alna tells DinSide.
A Swedish free rider and a Norwegian product designer are behind the Db bags, which have been marketed by famous sports stars, including Brazilian soccer star and Real Madrid legend Marcelo.

The parents follow
The bags have been particularly popular among students at secondary school and upper secondary school, but those who buy them – or have them bought for them – are getting younger and younger.
– Now parents have also opened their eyes to them, says general manager Mathias Fekete.
Espen Ødegaard, category manager for winter at Sport Holding, which owns Anton Sport among others, confirms that the Db bags are popular.
According to Ødegaard, the bags are primarily suitable for everyday use, with all that entails, such as travel, school and training. Although the manufacturer has some models that are adapted for use in the mountains, that is not primarily where they are used.
– We feel that Db has many models and is competitive on price. They deliver products that maintain good quality and are very practical to use. It may indicate that the consumer agrees with that, says the category manager to DinSide.

Beckmann is another popular school bag in Norway that is often seen at the start of school.
– We sell a lot of Beckmann bags both for school starters, young people, 2.-7. class and kindergarten now in connection with the start of school, says Caroline Heitmann, marketing manager in Norli to DinSide.
A school bag for the youngest costs between NOK 999 and 1399.
According to Heitmann, it is the Street FLX and Street Go models that have seen the greatest increase in sales over the past year.
– These are bags that have some of the same properties as Douchebags, but at a significantly lower price, she says.

– Are there any customers who comment on the prices of the school bags?
– The sacks have increased somewhat in price from last year, like all other goods which are exposed to a weak krone and higher raw material prices. I have not received feedback from the shops that people are reacting to the price.
The marketing manager believes that the bags maintain high quality and last for many years, so you get good value for money.
– Compared to other countries, such as Germany, school bags are very favorably priced in Norway, she believes.
