Popular actress and singer Anna Slováčková is fighting cancer again. The star of several musicals and TV series was cured of breast cancer two years ago, now the insidious disease has settled on her lungs.
Twenty-eight-year-old Anna has gone through a very challenging period in recent years. In addition to her battle with cancer, she had to face the media firefights of her parents. Felix Slováček often filled the boulevard with his experiences with his lover Lucía Gelemová, and his mother Dáda Patrasová with her alcoholic escapades.
Cancer was predicted by a dream
After her first cancer, Anička changed her approach to life. The return of the cancer did not occur to her until a terrifying nightmare came. “In May, I had a very vivid dream that my dad had something with his lungs. The very next day, I called him to come for an examination as soon as possible. Thanks to that, he actually found a great doctor, to whom I also went, because I had been suffering from a cough for some time. I’ve had all kinds of checkups and they always tell me it’s reflux. Until this lady doctor found out that I had a finding on my lungs,” she revealed in an interview with the Téma weekly. At the same time, the sympathetic blonde admitted that the return of cancer is worse than when the disease first came. “On the one hand, I already know what it all entails, and on the other hand, it’s just the second time, the final thing. But I believe that as I managed it the first time, I can do it again. It just pisses me off how many people who have followed my healing journey will now be scared. I gave them hope, and now this. I know how powerful the psyche is, I know it sounds terrible, but one of the reasons I was afraid of going public is because I would disappoint them,” she clarified her feelings.
Career change
Anička’s reoccurring illness raised several questions about her life. She began to doubt even her successful career. “It occurred to me that it was supposed to show me that I should give up on singing and acting, on the whole artistic career, because doing this profession with my diagnosis is simply useless. But everything goes. I believe that it will somehow work out even now. And if not, the world won’t collapse,” she admitted to thinking about changing professions.
In recent years, she cleaned up her circle of friends, started thinking differently and went to therapy regularly, but even that was not enough to completely change her life and thinking. “Except for the one thing I couldn’t do, and that was to totally limit some people. But it’s just not 100 percent. We all have someone toxic in our lives, and not everyone has the strength or ability to push them out. So, if I hesitated before and wondered, for example, what the interview with Jaroslav Dušek sparked in the summer regarding cancer, now I no longer believe in any of it. It’s just some stupid sorting from above, or maybe from below. Someone simply rolled a die and determined who would be sick and who would be healthy. For the first time, Dušek’s words really resonated with me, but now not at all. Yes, I was sometimes depressed, but I definitely no longer had thoughts of ending my life. Since I finished the first treatment, I have lived a really beautiful and fulfilled life,” she added in conclusion.
