Popó Becomes Partner and Ambassador of Fight Music Show after Knockout Victory – Exclusive Interview

After the success of his fight with Bambam at Fight Music Show 4, last Saturday, in São Paulo, which ended with a knockout in 36 seconds, Popó is taking the first steps to take on another role at the event. In an exclusive interview with Combate, the founder and president of the FMS, Mamá Brito, said that the four-time world boxing champion will be his partner in the show and will act as a kind of ambassador.

– Popó is acquiring a percentage of the company Fight Music Show. He is now joining me as a partner, because we are very grateful to him. This partnership with him worked very well, he really got involved – said Mamá Brito.

Now a partner, Popó will perform a role that he has already been carrying out unofficially. Mamá Brito said that the idea is that the four-time world boxing champion will also help arrange fights, which has already happened in recent editions of the Fight Music Show. He was the one who married Emilene Juarez, his wife, to Fernanda Lacerda.

– My expectation is that he will be a real ambassador, a respected guy, that he will help me put together the card. Some fights, he’s the one who sets up, he already does that. (If) I have a question, I ask him. For example, Pobre Loco’s rematch against Rey Physique, he was the one who said I should do it, because it was the judge’s mistake. It doesn’t make sense, in my opinion, because illegal scams will exist and won’t exist. I can’t close such a prime time to have a rematch at the event. So, we put on these tag team fights, and before putting them on, I asked Popó for his opinion. On this influencer card, it helps me a lot, because it has this insane vibe.

The success of FMS 4 did not surprise Mamá. The president of the event assumed that the magnitude of the repercussion was greater than expected, but sees the result as the result of work that he has been building for at least a decade.

– If I say that I was surprised, maybe not, because I was focused on this objective. I never wanted to hold events for only fighters or fight lovers to watch. I wanted my maid, Dona Hilda, and a millionaire to comment on the same thing. I’ve been saying this since the first one, when they said that Whindersson x Popó was a lucky break. I took a football stadium and held an event. It is the result of a lot of time, a lot of work. So, expect (success), maybe not in that magnitude. When they come to me with rumors that the event had a bigger audience than Anderson Silva at his peak, you can know that we broke everything.

But not everything was positive. Responsible for the event, Mamá Brito promised greater care with the security of the FMS after producer Gustavo Schueda was attacked by funk producer Henrique Alexandre Barros Vaian, known as “Rato da Love”. The president of the show stated that he will change the location of the groups that accompany the competitors and that there will be a new head of security and the hiring of more qualified security guards for the size of the event.

Furthermore, Mamá Brito stated that the event is providing the necessary support to the attacked employee. But the tendency is for there to be no legal consequences for the attacker, who hit Gustavo unintentionally and recanted with the producer.

– From everything that is bad within an edition, we learn a lot. Unfortunately, Gustavo, who went through that moment, shouldn’t have been there, he should have been a security guard instead. In the urge to help, he came in… And indeed, the punch wasn’t aimed at him, it was aimed at someone else, but the forearm caught Gustavo in the face. But there are consequences. We are giving him all the necessary assistance, legal advice is already talking to the other side. The good part is that the other side called him, apologized and made amends, because it has a lot to do with his position. Did we spend a fortune delivering a show only to be at the mercy of vandalism? That does not exist. We will solve this case and this will never happen again – he guaranteed.
