SV Mattersburg has to deal with an unplanned topic around Christmas. The roof of the poplar stadium’s guest grandstand, which consists of a tarpaulin, has been damaged due to strong winds. The Burgenlanders have now explained the circumstances in a press release:

On December 23, part of this tarpaulin detached from the roof of the poplar stadium’s guest grandstand, which currently consists of a tarpaulin, as part of a strong wind event and bent backwards. The supporting pipes and uprights belonging to the grandstand are not affected.

The incident has been and will be carefully and promptly processed by SV Mattersburg in cooperation with the responsible operating companies and the experts involved. The association has a keen interest in the complete clarification of the facts.

The stand was assessed by an external expert before approval in summer 2019, officially checked and approved and has withstood all storms and gusts of wind since then.

During each game, SV Mattersburg observes the (wind) conditions with great care in accordance with the requirements of the authorities and the Bundesliga. If the maximum wind load on a match day is exceeded, there is a clear plan B and the guest grandstand would be closed if necessary.

SV Mattersburg will continue to examine all infrastructural facilities closely and make the safety of all stadium visitors a top priority.
