On April 26, during the Popkillers 2022 gala, we met, among others, rapper of the year, author of the best album or creator of the most important song and music video in 2021. Among the nominees in various categories are the most popular artists, incl. Mata, Young Leosia, Żabson, Bedoes or Sokół. The gala was hosted by Waldemar Kasta and WdoWa.
Statuettes imitating the microphone cover, the so-called popkiller, have been distributed for the fourth time. During the Popkillery 2022 gala, we met the most important hip-hop artists in the country. Their hands are decided by a special community body composed of artists, journalists and hip-hop activists, as well as by the audience who selected their favorites in the online voting. The latter handed over a record-breaking nearly 745,000 sq m this year. votes.
Interesting facts from the gala:
- During the gala, a tribute was given to the deceased Bezczel and Pjus.
- On behalf of Mata, he received the award for the Music Video of the Year from Michał Milowicz Nowciax from the Crew.
- 13-year-old Nikodem, who played a concert with Mata in front of an audience of 15,000, presented the statuette in the Best Contact with Fans category. On behalf of Bedoes, it was picked up by … a Bedoes fan, who was indicated by the rapper himself before the gala.
- Nowciax from the team, receiving – for the third time – the statuette for the Mat in the Committed Song of the Year category, opened the suitcase, with which he came to the stage and took out two flowers, which he handed to the leaders.
- Rademenez received a special statuette for rapping for 36 hours, which resulted in him being entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
- A special Fair Play category has also been created, which distinguishes artists for their not only musical activities, because not only displays and bars are important. The winner of this category was Peja.
- Sitek performed a tribute for Kasty, performing his song “Wrocław Premiera”.
- On the roof of the EXPO XXI hall, Pezet performed the song “A scream hidden in the city”.

Hip-hop industry awards Popkillers – what are they?
Popkillery is an initiative of the music service Popkiller.pl, which decided to approach the topic beyond any divisions, inviting national and local media to cooperate, so that the result would be an award from the entire hip-hop community.
The winners are selected in two ways – by audience voting, as well as by voting by a body composed of Popkiller journalists and selected journalists and experts representing different generations, different media and different views on music. It includes representatives of the press, radio and television, as well as representatives of internet portals, general music and lifestyle websites, hip-hop websites, the largest rap festivals, as well as music influencers, youtubers and commentators.
