At the turn of September and October, the first ever branch of the American fast food chain called Popeyes should open on Wenceslas Square. It was founded in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and currently has over 4,000 restaurants.
Popeyes expansion into Central Europe is in charge of Marko Blažević, who according to his profile on LinkedIn he’s been working on the whole thing since October of last year.
“We deliberately chose Wenceslas Square. It is the place where all important events take place – Christmas or Easter markets, museum night and other public events. Without exaggeration, I expect it to be the busiest Popeyes restaurant in the world,” said Blaževič for the server iToday.
The popular American fast food chain has been looking for workers for some time. We saw the job offer from this employer on several servers. Popeyes offers both part-time and full-time jobs.
As benefits of full-time work, it offers bonuses, work clothes, flexible start and end of working hours, refreshments at the workplace and discounts on company products or services.

Popeyes offers 26,000 to 30,000 crowns per month and extra tips with each paycheck. It also attracts extra payments on holidays, weekends and night shifts.

In this context, PrahaIN.cz found out how it is with the salary of competitors. McDonald’s is probably the most famous and widespread fast food in our country. There are two on Wenceslas Square alone, where Popeyes will open. Another one in Vodičková street.
We asked the former part-time worker “Mekáča” today. She worked in the Rozvadov branch, which due to its location is one of the busiest.
“It always depends on the owner of the individual restaurant. Rozvadov and Plzeň paid enough, more than most. It may be different in Prague. But 130 kroner for an hour on Václavák at a new fast food doesn’t seem like a lot to me,” she said.
It was at the McDonald’s on Wenceslas Square that we asked. Nobody wanted to talk to us: “If you don’t want to apply for the job, we can’t tell you anything.”
However, the official website of this fast food restaurant has several active advertisements where the salary is stated. In Pilsen and Rozvadov, it offers 127 crowns per hour and various additional fees. In Prague at the European Union, the starting wage is 124 crowns per hour.
KFC does not have a salary listed on the website.
The Prague Burger King in Florence does not mention the hourly remuneration. It only states that the position of cashier and cook earns from 25 to 30 thousand crowns a month. This is a shift operation.
According to the available information, the domestic Bageterie Boulevard offers the highest salary of all fast foods. For the brigade, he writes “up to 160 crowns per hour”. Full-time work is said to start at 29,500 crowns, after three months and a completed trainer certification, the reward is up to 36,000 crowns. The Bageterie Boulevard branch is located on Wenceslas Square about 100 meters from the Popeyes fast food.
