Last year, we witnessed various international chains leaving the Czech Republic with the words that it is not a sufficiently lucrative market and that they simply cannot make a living here. Many took it as the beginning of a certain trend, when the domestic market will consolidate and only the strongest players will survive here, who will then grab everything. At the same time, it is not at all positive from the point of view of competition, as we have already seen in many segments.
Finally something new
In this way, for example, the popular fast food chain Nordsee or the grocery store chain ended up here Iceland. Experts then pointed to the problems of other big names. At one time there was even speculation that the giant Tesco wanted to sell its domestic operations, but in the end it appears to have backed off.
And now he flashes back to better times. Although all is not lost, a very important American fast food chain is entering the Czech Republic, which can significantly muddy the local waters. It is none other than Popeyes, which is one of the most popular fast foods in the whole world.
At the same time, Czechs generally think that the fast food segment ends with McDonalds, KFC and Burger King, which are represented here. However, anyone who has ever visited the United States of America knows very well that there are actually dozens of different chains operating on this market, which are just waiting to enter Europe or even the Czech Republic.
Popeyes is now trying it and will open its first restaurant directly at a lucrative address on Wenceslas Square, in the former Fashion House. This will happen on November 3, with other restaurants to follow. There is a big expansion planned and some 60 restaurants in the next ten years, which is not a small number at all.

People are happy
Popeyes is from Louisiana and the biggest competitor is KFC, which is from Kentucky for a change. In the US, both chains are at a similar level and also serve a similar assortment, which consists mainly of chicken. However, in each case, a different recipe is used, which results in a rather diverse taste.
“I’m really looking forward to Popeyes. I once tasted their chicken in the USA and immediately thought, what a pity that they are not in the Czech Republic. It tastes fantastic. They also have mashed potatoes as a side dish, which they recently canceled at KFC, so all you have to do there is junk fries or chips,” describes Mr. Karel from Prague, who wants to be present at the ceremonial opening of the restaurant on Wenceslas Square.

Today, this fast food represents one of the largest chains of restaurant establishments worldwide. Similar to its competitors, it bets on operation in the form of franchises, which can be opened by any entrepreneur who has sufficient funds for investments and meets the required conditions.
