“I am surprised and happy that so many young people will come who want to participate”, says Francis. “Someone will say: ‘I will go as a tourist.’ However, the young person who goes there does so because deep down he longs to participate, share, share his experience and gain the experience of others. He thirsts for horizons.”
The Pope encourages young people to learn to always look to the horizon, always look beyond. “Don’t build a wall in front of your life,” he says. “Walls limit you, the horizon allows you to grow. Always look to the horizon – with your eyes, but especially with your heart. Open your heart! For other cultures, other young men and women who will also come to the event of these days”.
At the end, Francisks thanks the young people for registering for PJD membership in such a timely manner, and expresses the hope that others will follow their example. “May God bless you and Our Lady protect you!” he wishes “Pray for me, I pray for you. And don’t forget: walls – no, horizons – yes! Thank you!”
