Pope Tawadros II Prays for Peace and Addresses Situation in Gaza Strip

The journey in leading Egypt with projects and achievements and building the state and the human being in this strong image and we pray for him and for all officials and that he bless their responsibility.

His Holiness the Pope spoke about the situation in the Gaza Strip, saying: In recent weeks we have witnessed heartbreaking massacres that cause great pain, and we do not hear any humanitarian response to what is happening in Palestine. Therefore, we have designated the month of Kiahk to pray that God will give the ear that responds.

He stated: We hear about martyrs, victims, wounded, and destroyed homes, and history will stand up to the massacres that occur for a long time.

His Holiness the Pope added during his sermon at the Christmas Mass that Christmas is the beginning of the holidays of the year, and that when everyone prays, they conclude their prayers with the word “Amen,” which means respond, O Lord, and God responds greatly for the good of man, but the other question is whether man responds to the voice of God. And that God created ears in order to hear and weigh the words he receives, explaining that the Virgin Mary responded to the angel’s message when he told her that she would give birth to Jesus Christ.

Pope Tawadros noted that the angels also informed the shepherds of the birth of Christ, so they went and rejoiced with the Virgin Mary and Youssef Al-Najjar, and their response was immediate because of the purity of their hearts. He explained that the village of Bethlehem was very crowded due to the subscription that the king directed at that time, and therefore the Virgin Mary could not find anyone to come. A place for her to give birth, and the owner of the house allowed her to give birth in a cowshed, which became one of the symbols of birth that was visited by millions of people.

His Holiness the Pope continued, saying: Everyone is suffering from the massacres that are happening in the Gaza Strip, and sometimes some are arrogant and forget that they are weak, but man’s response to the voice of God gives him wealth, and therefore God sent heavenly messages to all mankind, so that we may listen to Him and for the sake of a better life.

Pope Tawadros noted that the Church raises its prayers for all those who suffer and are wounded, and prays for God to grant peace to all the world, and to all places of conflict and wars.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated His Holiness Pope Tawadros and the masses of Christians on the occasion of Christmas, at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital. President Sisi was received upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the bishops participating in the prayers of the Divine Mass, amid a state of welcome and joy that prevailed among everyone.
