330,000 people have signed up
So far, more than 330,000 young people from 200 countries have signed up to participate in this World Youth Day. 20,000 volunteers came from 150 countries. More than 700 bishops and 20 cardinals will be in service, leading young people to the catechesis on the theme “Arise”. Bruni noted that “these gatherings will have the quality of walking together and talking to each other”.
Successive Popes, Portugal and Fatima
According to the director of the press office of the Holy See, three popes have visited Portugal and Fatima long before Pope Francis. Pope Francis will make a total of 11 public speeches during this trip, including nine speeches and two homily. Only the first speech will be delivered in Italian, the rest will be in Spanish. “This is the Pope’s language. This way more people are reached,” Bruni explained.
