Pope Francis said on the 30th that the Holy See is engaged in a peace mission to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Pope Francis told reporters on the plane returning from a visit to Hungary that day, “I have a mission in progress, but I haven’t made it public yet.”

In connection with the mission, he said, the Holy See is ready to assist in the repatriation of Ukrainian children who have been taken to Russia or to Russian-occupied territories.
Pope Francis emphasized, “I believe that peace is always achieved by keeping channels open, and peace can never be achieved by closing them.”
Pope Francis has been calling for peace almost every week since Russia invaded Ukraine illegally last February.
It has also repeatedly expressed its desire to act as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia.
