Luke’s funeral was held on August 18 in the Church of San Illario in Valnate, northern Italy, presided over by Raimondi, auxiliary bishop of Milan, and was attended by so many people that the church was packed.
Luke’s mother received an unexpected call on the 17th from Pope Francis. The woman brought the matter directly to Bishop Raimondi with great gratitude. “The words of Luke’s mother were: ‘When you see the Pope, thank him because it is a kind and thoughtful gesture.
