Priests and nuns are watching pornography on the Internet, Pope Francis admitted Monday in an interview with seminarians in Rome, writes the “Daily Mail” portal.
Pope Francis has said that Internet pornography is a “vice” that spreads among church members.
“It is a vice that many people have, as well as priests and nuns,” said the 85-year-old pontiff.
“That’s how the devil comes in. And I’m not just talking about the kind of criminal pornography involving child abuse, which has already degenerated. But pornography is slightly ‘normal’,” he continued.
He warned the priests and nuns, saying: “Dear brothers, pay attention to this.”
The Pope made these statements on Monday, ANSA reports.
Catholic priests and nuns are prohibited from viewing pornographic material and the catechism defines sexual images as a “violation of chastity” under Article 2354.
In 2020, Pope Francis’ Instagram account seemed to “like” the photo of a Brazilian bikini model dressed in stockings and suspenders.
