“Christmas this year will have many limitations and inconveniences, but I hope that this will give you an opportunity to reflect on the true value and meaning of Christmas.”

Pope Francis delivered a message of consolation and hope to mankind at Christmas, while the world is struggling with the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
The Pope referred to the Christmas experienced by the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph in an admonition broadcasted online on the 16th (local time) and said, “How much hardship and agony must they also have. But faith, hope, and love guide them?” And supported it.”
He added, “I hope we will be like that,” he added. “Through these difficulties, consumerism will disappear and the way of celebrating Christmas becomes pure, and I hope that it will be a sincere and true day.”
Earlier, the Italian government announced measures to prevent the spread of Corona 19, including a curfew around the country from 10 p.m. before and after Christmas. Accordingly, the Mass on the 24th, when the Pope presided at the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, was also extended two hours from the previous year to 7:30 pm.
However, it is unclear whether Mass will be held normally, as the Italian government is discussing additional measures of high-intensity preventing the entire population from going out and moving for two weeks from the 24th. In this case, there is a high possibility that it will be replaced by online mass without ordinary believers.
The announcement of the Pope’s Blessing Message’Urbi et Orbi’ (meaning’Rome and the whole world’) scheduled at noon on the 25th will also be held indoors, not in the’Balcony of Blessing’ in St. do.
