It’s nothing new that not only hard rockers are allowed on the stage at the Wacken Open Air. Even Schlagerkönig Heino (84) was allowed to climb the True Metal Stage there together with Rammstein in 2013, last year the Cologne dialect group “Höhner” gave metal fans a special kind of concert experience. Now pop star Jasmine has also done it Wagner (43), better known as Blümchen, on the muddy Holy Ground of the festival.
“The Look” cover: Jasmin Wagner participated in the Lord of the Lost album
The fact that she was allowed to take the microphone there as a special guest of the dark rock band Lord of the Lost mainly has to do with the fact that she was allowed to participate in the group’s last album last year. Together with the singer Chris Harms (43), she recorded a cover version of the Roxette hit “The Look” – which she now also performed at her appearance in Wacken.
Wacken fans are not enthusiastic: “Why are they allowed on the property?”
As expected, the guest performance caused mixed feelings among the assembled heavy metal friends. On Facebook, Wacken fans asked themselves, for example, “Blümchen and Lord of the Lost sing a song by Roxette in Wacken… and encourage the audience to sing along, but they don’t feel like it… why?” Or also: “Why do you let them on the property?”
But even Lord of the Lost have had a rather dubious reputation among die-hard metal heads since they took part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest – in which they took last place with the song “Blood & Glitter”. The performance of the metal legends Iron Maiden caused a lot more euphoria on Friday.
“Mud Monster”: Jasmin Wagner doesn’t let her good mood take away
Despite a few wrinkled metal noses, Jasmin “Blümchen” Wagner obviously didn’t let her good mood spoil in Wacken. On Instagram before the performance, she posted a photo of herself in front of the festival’s iconic “Bullhead” logo and happily captioned it with “Mud monster! Can’t wait to sing with Lord of the Lost tonight!”.
