Sino-Canadian pop star and actor Chris Wu has been arrested for rape, the BBC reported.
Beijing police said the investigation was targeted by allegations online that the 30-year-old pop idol had “repeatedly lured young women into sexual intercourse.”
The first indictment was filed in early July by 19-year-old student Du Meizhu, who said she was raped by the singer as a 17-year-old girl while drunk. Chris Wu, who is one of the brightest celebrities in China, denied the accusation, life.dir.bg writes.
Doo also claims that seven other women told her that Wu had seduced them with promises of good Job and other possibilities. Some of the deceived were minors, according to Doo. At least 24 women have since been charged with indecent behavior by Chris W.
He also denied allegations that he seduced girls with promises of benefits, that he raped girls while they were unconscious and that he had sexual relations with minors. Under Chinese law, the age of majority is 18, and the age for consensual sexual intercourse is 14.
Chris Wu’s lawyers have filed a defamation lawsuit against Doo.
Chris Wu was born in China but grew up in Canada. He debuted in Hollywood in 2017 with the role in the film “The Three Hicks: The Return of Xander Cage”, and before that he appeared on the music scene with the K-pop group I X O.
More than 10 global luxury brands have terminated their contracts with Chris Wu following accusations against him by Doo.
