Poor vaccination coverage is worrying

Yesterday the Ministry of Health of the Nation, Unicef and the Argentine Pediatric Society (SAP) invited the population to join the national free and compulsory vaccination campaign against measles, rubella, mumps and polio, aimed at girls and boys from 13 years old months to 4 years which is valid until November 13th.

In the statement released jointly by the National Health Portfolio, the United Nations body and the scientific society within the Argentine Congress of Pediatrics taking place in the city of Mar del Plata, they warned that “the decrease in national coverage has been seen to be increased. from the Covid-19 pandemic ”and that“ the persistence of low vaccination coverage poses the risk of the re-emergence of eliminated diseases and the increase in cases of vaccination-controlled diseases ”.

They also warned that, during the fifth week of the campaign, coverage had just hit 42%, a far cry from the expected 90%.

As they analyzed “this limited impact is multifactorial, including the low perception of risk by the population”.
