Afterwards, the film received a standing ovation of no less than eight minutes. With that impressive number, it is officially the longest standing ovation ever at the film festival. The audience praised Lanthimos for his brilliance and of course the performances of the cast. “Genius! We love you! Yorgos!”, it sounded, among other things.

Lanthimos is known for his quirky films with his own and acclaimed style. Just think of ‘The Lobster’ and ‘The Favorite’. For the latter, the British actress Olivia Colman received an Oscar for Best Actress.

‘Poor Things’ is expected in Belgian cinemas this fall.
