According to the report, prostitutes in Murambinda deliberately inject themselves with the blood of drug addicts in a desperate effort to share the intoxication. Tafadzwa Dinga, a microplanner with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-funded microplanning program implemented by the National AIDS Council (NAC), confirmed the development.
Dinga said : « Young sex workers take drugs. When we ask them, they usually don’t disclose that they use drugs, but the evidence is there. Some of the common drugs used by these young people include Gukka Makafela, Bronclear (Ngomwa) and marijuana. We also learn that young sex workers are now injecting blood to get high. They take the blood of an inebriated peer and deliberately inject it into themselves, we have heard of such cases recently and are still investigating. »
Another Murambinda microplanner, Angela Matizanadzo, said it was not unusual for prostitutes in the district to be drug addicts given the capricious sexual demands of their clients.

Angela said: We have a problem, especially among our young sex workers. Some of them are new and cannot say no to certain requests. Lately, clients have demanded anal sex and fellatio. For experienced sex workers, they know it is risky to have anal and oral sex, but our young girls are at a disadvantage. »
