Poop pollutes swimming water Jagersplas, municipality takes measures | Inland

The fact that the water quality at the beaches Wigeon, Grebe and Snipe in the Jagersveld is not good is probably due to the many water birds and geese that defecate on the beaches. That is why the beaches and sunbathing areas are now raked twice a week and the excrement is collected and removed.

The pump, which pumps clean water deep from the puddle, turns on at full power at night. In this way a lot of fresh water is supplied. “The disadvantage of this is that the water can be a bit colder in the morning. We therefore advise early swimmers to go to the beaches of Grebe or Watersnip. Since the start of these measures, the water quality has improved considerably.

In addition, residents are asked to take measures: do not let dogs in the water and small children with swimming diapers on. If the quality has not improved sufficiently by the end of this year, it is possible that the beaches will be judged ‘poor’ by European regulations and a bathing ban will apply. The measures are aimed at preventing this.
