Decided in the cup
Pontus Almqvist has been on loan from Russian Rostov around Europe in recent seasons.
Last season he was in Polish Pogon Szczecin and at the end of June it was clear that the Swede will spend the coming season in Serie A for games in Lecce.
A week ago, Pontus Almqvist made his debut for the club, then in the Italian Cup against Serie B team Como. The Swede had a successful debut when he scored the only goal of the match and sent his team through.
Two goals in two games
Now, a week later, Almqvist was successful again in the Serie A premiere. When his team played their first game at home against last season’s runner-up Lazio, Almqvist scored the equalizer in the 87th minute.
A goal that set the stage for the turnaround that was completed just a minute later when Federico Di Francesco scored the 2-1 goal that also became the final score.
