These special high school and student collections are anchored in the territory of Pontivy (Morbihan) For years. This Tuesday morning March 30, 2021, 60 high school and college students from Jeanne-d’Arc-Saint-Ivy give their sang.
“Taking the first step with your friends is easier”
“They attended an information meeting upstream, at the high school,” said Jacqueline Stephan, president of the association of blood donors of Pontivy and its region, which supervises this collection of the French Blood Establishment (EFS).
We have a lot of first gifts with these young people, they are a little tense, there is a little apprehension. Taking the first step with your friends, in a group, is easier and they come back more easily to give back afterwards.
At each special youth fundraiser, 60 donors come to the scene. If the schedules are not complete, the association supplements them by calling on partner companies.
At the beginning of March 2021, it was 60 young people from the Joseph-Loth high school (a second collection is scheduled for October 2021).
On April 15, 2021, collection at the Ifsi nursing school, route de Mûr on the university hub for students from Ifsi, IUT and Gros-Chêne high school.
“It is you who give us a gift”
Due to the health situation, the collection for this Tuesday, March 30, 2021 for JASI students is being held at the convention center. “We have set up a shuttle,” explains Jacqueline Stephan.
And when there is no special youth collection for other establishments, such as Kerlebost in Saint-Thuriau, it is the young people themselves who organize themselves to come and give a session for the general public.
In the sampling area, on the lounge chair, Leslie Duval, in the pro kitchen bin in Saint-Ivy, gives for the first time. “My mother suffers from iron deficiency, she needs blood. That’s why I decided to do it, ”she says.
The young woman turned 18 four days ago. “Happy birthday,” says a nurse from the EFS, and continues: It is you who are giving us a gift by coming to donate your blood. “
