After two weeks of receiving donations of multiple copies in the 15 libraries of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, this week the team from the Directorate of the Library System together with the Department of Benefits and Quality of Life from our House of Studies delivered the 294 books collected to the Betania Acoge Foundation.
Prior to the delivery of the texts, the Library team prepared the presentation of a storyteller called “Malala’s Magic Pencil” aimed especially at the boys, girls and their mothers present at the activity. The story tells the story of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist who defends the right to education and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
The director of the Library System, Sandra Navarrete, valued the possibility of contributing to the installation of a children’s library at the Betania Acoge Foundation.
“We are very happy for the great result of this book donation campaign that seeks to promote the reading habit in the children of the foundation. We had a very good reception in the university community who enthusiastically joined in this initiative that contributes to bringing us a little closer to the Valparaíso community, especially to those who need it most. All that remains is to thank everyone who contributed to this solidarity campaign,” he declared.
This event was co-organized between the Directorate of the Library System with the Department of Benefits and Quality of Life of the PUCV, with the objective of contributing to the mission of Betania Acoge, an institution that seeks to welcome, transform and socially reintegrate women who are in situation of extreme vulnerability.
