Authors of a good season last year with a 4th place at the end of the regular season, the Pontellois-Combalusiens were that said, unable to win their ticket to access the upper floor during the Final Oven at the beginning of June in Dijon. Several executives have left the club, including Jean-Pierre Dupoux, Thibault Garaudet and Uelington Da Silva Ferreira (Tremblay) as well as Gunko (Dreux-Vernouillet), Schneider (Bucharest) and Lemal (Marolles). On the recruitment side, the Ile-de-France leaders have offered themselves the services of Zammit, Barthelemy, Glorieux, Taufond, Muller and Padolus, i.e. confirmed players of this level.
Following its good season and after having narrowly missed its objective, Pontault-Combault is not changing its policy for the 2023-2024 financial year. Appearing, once again, as being one of the favorites for the climb, the Ile-de-France club wants more than anything to play at the top of the table, as its captain, Genese Bouity, underlines: “The club’s ambitions are to continue to be among the leading roles in the ProLigue and then to seek promotion to the Liqui Moly Starligue. Expectations are to be in the top 6. We want to do better than last year. The ProLeague continues to become more and more intense, competitive. Many teams manage to strengthen themselves, to build themselves up and to come and challenge all the “big teams” in the championship”.
For its official first of the season, Pontault-Combault will host Chartres (Liqui Moly StarLigue) on August 30 for the knockout stages of the Coupe de France. A clearly catchable opponent for the Pontellois-Combalusiens who will obviously, in front of their supporters, be keen to create a first feat and start on a positive note. Concerning the first month of the championship, it is a mixed schedule which awaits the troop of Guillaume Saurina with the receptions of Cournon (J1) and Besançon (J4), but two trips not easy to make in Caen (J2) and Istres (J3).
