About pomegranates…only good! They strengthen immunity, reduce fever, are extremely moisturizing, regulate blood pressure, are an important source of vitamin C, and studies in recent years show that these wonderful fruits are also used successfully in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Following the research of a group of scientists from the University of California, it was concluded that, in men who drink a glass of pomegranate juice daily, the development of cancer is significantly slowed down. Urologist Professor Allan Pantuck, who led the study, emphasizes that pomegranate juice does not cure prostate cancer, but it is an effective treatment for preventing this disease or slowing down its development. Compared to “chemical” treatments, which involve important side effects, such as fatigue, depression and impotence, pomegranate therapy is easy and free of these unpleasant consequences.
Due to the properties of toning the heart muscle and lowering cholesterol, pomegranates are recommended as a dietary supplement especially in heart conditions. Pomegranate juice also increases appetite and stimulates digestion, being indicated in gastrointestinal disorders and for the treatment of renal colic. In addition, after consuming a glass of pomegranate juice a day, children eliminate intestinal parasites.
ENTEROCOLITIS
Pomegranate peel and seeds are useful in the treatment of enterocolitis, experts say. The recommended combination is: 20 g of dry bark or 50 g of seeds, which are boiled on low heat for half an hour. Strain the mixture and take two spoons twice a day.
Attention, however, the indicated doses must be strictly observed. Otherwise, symptoms such as: headache, dizziness, visual disturbances, nausea or vomiting may occur.
ATHEROSCLEROSIS
Due to its rich antioxidant content, pomegranate juice is beneficial in the treatment of atherosclerosis. In addition, pomegranates are recommended by phytotherapists and for preventing the deposition of fats and cholesterol on the inner wall of the arteries. Thus, the risk of a heart attack decreases considerably. Laboratory tests have shown that pomegranate juice stimulates the production of nitric oxide, which keeps blood vessels open and blood flow within normal limits.
