Polygyros Halkidiki / Unprecedented robbery with loot of 37 tons of olive oil

A return to conditions reminiscent of periods of dramatic poverty or even war is indicated by the disappearance of oil cooperative production

THE sweeping precision in fooda has makes olive oil look like gold in the eyes not only of consumers but also of criminals, as shown by unprecedented case of robbery which was revealed 2 days ago in Polygyros of Halkidiki.

The people of the local Olive Farming Cooperative found the storage areas with the previous year’s production to be empty.

Vigilantes emptied the barrels of 37 tons of olive oil, which at current fire prices is estimated to have a value of around 370,000 euros.

The robbery was reported to the authorities and it is being investigated which persons and in what way they removed the remainder of last year’s production from the Cooperative, shortly before this year’s harvest, which is expected to have an even greater value.
