Polyarc has announced the next steps for the release of Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss. The VR game, presented by App Lab on Meta Quest 2, begins its open beta period on Steam today and is celebrating by introducing a new champion. He’s MJ22, affectionately known as “Mojo,” with a style all his own but familiar to fans of the Moss series.
Mojo brings a new “hook” similar to the Iron Soldiers you faced in Moss and Moss: Book II, but this one seems to have been given a will.“With Mojo’s ability, you can physically manipulate the position of the opposing player’s hero for the first time, bringing a unique tactical element to the game,”said St. Gillens.“We’ve seen the creative ways players have taken advantage of Mojo’s ability to change the pace of the game with a single action, and we won’t stop with Mojo. We look forward to integrating more heroes and features into the game as part of our commitment to instant service.
The champion’s moves and abilities are something Glassbreakers’ design director Danny Bulla also talked about at Gamescom.“You might think that controlling three champions is a bit far-fetched, if controlling one champion is difficult enough. We simplified it, made it accessible, and tried to reduce the cognitive load on the player so it’s easy. (…) We started with It takes some inspiration from other real-time strategy games but combines it with virtual reality.
In addition to this character, Polyarc also held a special event called “Chest Quest”. From now until October 5, the studio has increased the rate at which players can upgrade their weekly treasure chests to speed up progress.
