Update: The official Japanese website for Pokémon has confirmed that it is a convergent species of Sinistea. It is not known if it will evolve or not.
original news: We’ve had a lot of Pokémon Scarlet and Purple content recently. It is related to its DLC, after the news presented in the last Pokémon Presents and the Poltchageist announcement!
After the green powder teaser and confirmation yesterday, it has now been officially introduced to Poltchageista new pokemon Grass and Ghost type for this first DLC of Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. However, This Pokémon has somewhat confused the fans.
Because? well the pokemon seems to be inspired by Sinisteaalthough its name is more similar to that of the evolution of Sinistea, Polteageist. For now it has not been confirmed if Poltchageist will evolve or not. It is also not known if Poltchageist is the second evolution and has an earlier phase. Or if Poltchageist is actually a different Sinistea evolution than Polteageist.
It even seems to have a mark of authenticity:

In the first screenshots shared by those responsible for the game, we see that they equate it to Sinistea, making it more likely an rfake/converged form of this Pokemon. Whether or not it will have Polteageist-inspired evolution remains to be seen, but the options are:
Evolution of Sinistea different to Polteageist Evolution of Polteageist (second evolutionary phase) Standalone convergent Pokémon without evolutions Standalone convergent Pokémon with evolution/s (not shown yet)
