- On Friday in Sopot, Polsat Super Hit Festival 2021 began, after a one-year break caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will last until Saturday, June 26
- On the first day of the festival, there was less music – Beata Kozidrak and Bajm gave a 40-minute recital in the program “Hot blood flows in us”, and earlier, Cleo sang at the Forest Opera. The rest of the evening is cabaret shows
- Beata and Bajmu’s recital was not captivating, at least in the TV broadcast – it was full of joy, emotions and hits, but the pleasure of listening was taken away by the terrible sound production
- Beata’s voice often got lost in the mix, and the band’s sound lacked clarity and power. In this respect, TVP carries out broadcasts much more professionally
- There will be a lot of music on Saturday – among others, the winners of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, i.e. the Italian Måneskin, as well as Kayah, Kortez, Enej, Doda, sanah, Michał Szpak, Pectus, Andrzej Piaseczny, Paweł Domagała, Kamil Bednarek, Golec uOrkiestra, Viki Gabor, IRA, Kortez Justyna Steczirkowska and Sławomirkowska

The Polsat Super Hit Festival 2021 in Sopot, the event that replaced TOpTrendy in 2015, was advertised as the “most important musical event of the summer”. On a daily basis, such statements should be approached with a great distance, because under normal conditions there are many musical attractions and festivals in the summer, but we live in a rather special time – the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the event not to take place last year, is so unpredictable that who knows what will happen in a few or several weeks. May there be as much as possible on the music scenes, and let the black scenarios related to the possible fourth wave of the pandemic and the prospect of another lockdown come true. Much depends on ourselves.
Polsat Super Hit Festival is primarily a music event, but on the first day there was less music, as cabarets reigned supreme (“Sopocki Hit Kabaretowy”). The main musical point of the program was a 40-minute recital by Beata Kozidrak and Bajmu entitled “Hot blood flows in us”, and before that, Cleo performed on stage in the company of six dancers dressed like her in futuristic white costumes. The singer sang her last year’s hit “Star Hunters”, but to tell the truth, there was little to hear about her voice. Unfortunately, as it turned out later, it was not her fault.

– Today we officially defrost festivals – Krzysztof Ibisz, who, together with Paulina Sykut-Jeżyna, hosted the first day of the festival, did not hide his joy. – Beautiful and predatory! – he announced Beata Kozidrak. The singer actually presented herself boldly, although in her stylization, revealing impressive legs, there was a certain kitsch. It certainly suited episode the spirit of the first song: “Closer” was created in cooperation with the producer Duit, associated, among others, with hip-hop. Unfortunately, from the very beginning something was wrong with the sound, at least in the TV broadcast. Beata’s voice, in the first minutes giving the impression that she was a bit “used to” the stage, was often lost in the mix, and the sound of the band was devoid of clarity and power. In this respect, Bajmu’s Co, ladies, gave me, which at the beginning of the pandemic was remarkably remembered in a new arrangement by Adam Sztaba, and the pop-rock “Drunken You” from the album “B3” released a few years ago, were not much better. Detriment. In terms of sound, TVP carries out broadcasts much more professionally.

The recital was not long, but it was filled with other hits, mainly Bajmu, very enthusiastically received – the beloved by the audience “Thoughts and words”, rock “Hot blood flows in us”, hard rock “Biała army” and a touching ballad dedicated to the fans “Same moment”. Beata also did not hide her emotions and joy. – It is amazing that you are here and I am here. I love you! – she assured. – It is you, my wonderful audience, whether you are sitting here or in front of the TV sets, you are the most important to me – she added. She also invited her ex-husband and Bajm’s manager, Andrzej Pietras, to the stage, whom she thanked for being alone on stage. The singer also received several statuettes, including from Polsat viewers, presented by Nina Terentiew, and the Radio Zet thirtieth anniversary award, which was presented to her by Beata Tadla.
The recital ended with the song “Gambit”, which heralds the artist’s fourth solo album, due for release next year. Climatically also referring to the eighties, but again … lost a lot in such a sound setting. It remains to be hoped that the producers from Polsat will draw conclusions and improve this aspect on Saturday – especially that there will be e.g. the winners of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, i.e. włoski Måneskin.
Even before the festival, some viewers were aroused by the organizers’ decision to divide the sectors of the Sopot Forest Opera audience into those for people who are fully vaccinated (without additional admission limits) and those who are not vaccinated. There have been accusations of promoting segregation, but is it right? After all, thanks to these few sectors (only four out of twenty-three!) Dedicated exclusively to the vaccinated, no one is losing anything, and the festival itself can be safely attended live by more people. And while the issue is controversial – just to mention the recent confusion about the KULT team’s statement – it seems that more and more organizers will either introduce such a division or invite only fully vaccinated people to their events.
