After the fire at the Brahmapuram waste plant, the Pollution Control Board has checked whether the waste has spread in the water sources including Kadambarayar. The action is as per the instructions of the High Court.
After the fire that lasted for 12 days, there was a big concern that the Kadambarayar, which flows adjacent to the plant, was polluted. The death of fish in many parts of Kadambarayar has increased the concern of local residents.
It was in this situation that the High Court directed the Pollution Control Board to test the samples from the water sources. It was also suggested to check the quality of underground water.
The court had directed to test the samples from Periyar besides Kadambarayar. The inspection report will be forwarded to the High Court soon.
