Polling pointer: VVD remains largest, CDA further in the minus after Omtzigt departure

In the first Poll after the parliamentary elections in March, the VVD remains by far the largest party with between 35 and 41 seats and there is a loss for the CDA and Forum for Democracy.

The CDA, which already lost 4 parliamentary seats in March and achieved 15, will lose another 5 to 8 in this weighted average of the polls by Ipsos/EenVandaag and I&O Research. FvD still made a profit in March, but has now no further than 4 to 8 seats.

At a considerable distance from the VVD, D66 follow with 19 to 25 seats and the PVV with 14 to 18.

‘Confidence in Hoekstra is declining’

Political scientist Tom Louwerse, creator of the Polling Indicator, sees that the CDA has been down in various polls since the elections. “But the party has dropped even further in the last month. It is logical to link that to the departure of Pieter Omtzigt. EenToday Opinionepanel you saw the confidence in Hoekstra among CDA voters decline sharply afterwards. CDA voters walk in the Ipsos/EenVandaag poll especially to the VVD, which seems to have little trouble with the discussion about Mark Rutte’s management style.”

According to Louwerse, forum voters are equally negative about the unrest within their party, including the departure of three MPs. That appears from research by I&O Research. “Various voters indicate in that research that this is the reason for a switch to the BoerBurgerBeweging and the PVV”, Louwerse sees.
